Tourmaline Networks Announces New Wireless Email Applications Based On QUALCOMM's BREW Platform

- Company to Showcase Soda-Pop Mail Lite and Email Executive at CTIA Wireless 2003 -

NEW ORLEANS - March 17, 2003 - Tourmaline Networks, Inc., a developer of wireless software applications, today announced the titles of its latest email products, Soda-Pop Mail Lite and Email Executive, developed for QUALCOMM's Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless™; (BREW™) platform. The company will be demonstrating the downloadable and easy-to-use wireless email applications in QUALCOMM's BREW Partner Pavilion at CTIA Wireless 2003 in New Orleans, March 17-19.

Soda-Pop Mail Lite offers one of the most user-friendly and low-cost wireless email applications available today. The application will enable wireless subscribers with BREW-enabled handsets to easily access their existing publicly accessible Hotmail, Yahoo!, and other POP3 email accounts with minimal phone clicks.

Email Executive is ideal for small business users and consumers who want sophisticated wireless email access, but don't want to carry a second device. It offers a premium wireless email package at a fraction of the cost of a monthly wireless PDA service.

The new products compliment Tourmaline Network's successful Soda-Pop Mail that allows users of popular email accounts to send and receive messages through their BREW-enabled mobile phones. Soda Pop Mail is currently available through Verizon Wireless' Get It Nowä service and ALLTEL's Axcess service.

"Soda-Pop Mail has achieved rapid acceptance because it provides affordable, easy-to-use email with robust features on users' mobile phones," said Basil Abifaker, vice president of marketing, Tourmaline Networks. "The BREW platform has made it easy for us to expand our suite of wireless email products with Soda-Pop Mail Lite and Email Executive to give customers a choice that best suits their needs."

Tourmaline Networks continues to lead the way in the development of useful email applications for today's mobile consumer," said Jan Lezny, senior director of developer and OEM relations, QUALCOMM Internet Services. "We expect these new BREW-based applications to follow in the footsteps of Soda-Pop Mail and be a big draw for subscribers who require or desire constant access to their email."
