Soda-Pop Mail® Email Application Exceeds 600,000 Downloads Worldwide

BREW®-Based Email Application Deployed by Nine Operators Around the World

Solana Beach, CA – June 8, 2004 – Tourmaline Networks, Inc., a leading supplier of wireless email solutions for corporations, mobile professionals and consumers, announced today at the BREW 2004 Developers Conference in San Diego that Soda-Pop Mail, developed for QUALCOMM’s BREW solution, has had over 600,000 downloads since being launched in March of this year. The application allows users to access their POP3 and Hotmail email accounts from their BREW-enabled handsets. Recently, Soda-Pop Mail achieved other significant milestones, including being offered by nine carriers worldwide, being available on over 50 handset models and supporting email in four languages (English, Spanish, Hebrew and Thai).

When downloaded wirelessly and installed on a BREW-enabled handset, Soda-Pop Mail makes it possible for users to quickly and easily access existing publicly accessible POP3 and Hotmail email accounts. Users do not have to change their email addresses and the service costs significantly less then other wireless email products.

“We choose to build exclusively to BREW because we have found it to be the best wireless platform to commercialize our email application for the global wireless market,” said Basil Abifaker, vice president of Tourmaline Networks. “The BREW system has enabled us to efficiently develop, test and support a product that is distributed worldwide.”

“The continued success of Soda-Pop Mail demonstrates that applications that enable wireless communication solutions for the BREW solution are gaining momentum,” said Mike Yuen, director of BREW Developer Relations, QUALCOMM Internet Services. “The BREW solution, with its comprehensive business development approach and built-in billing mechanism, is especially conducive in enabling developers to provide services that consumers want and need.”

QUALCOMM’s BREW solution provides products and services that connect the mobile marketplace value chain, which includes publishers, application developers, content providers, device manufacturers, operators and consumers.

Publishers and developers worldwide are generating revenue from BREW-based applications and content, and 26 manufacturers have offered more than 135 BREW-enabled device models to consumers. BREW is successfully enabling the commercial wireless data services of many successful operators, including Verizon Wireless, ALLTEL, Cellular One, MetroPCS, Midwest Wireless, NTELOS and U.S. Cellular in the United States, China Unicom, KDDI in Japan, KTF in South Korea, Hutch in Thailand, Telstra in Australia, VIVO in Brazil, BellSouth Chile, BellSouth Colombia, BellSouth Ecuador, BellSouth Guatemala, BellSouth Nicaragua, BellSouth Panama, BellSouth Perú, Telefónica Móviles in Peru, Movicom in Argentina, Telcel and Movilnet in Venezuela, Verizon Dominican Republic, Verizon Wireless Puerto Rico, Pelephone in Israel and Zapp in Romania.
